In My Own Words…
After many years of rewarding pastoral experience I became chaplain at a large continuing care retirement community in Rockford IL where I had the honor of building relationships with amazing residents and their families. Now at Central Baptist Village, I am thrilled to be part of a skilled and compassionate team that, inspired by faith, exists to serve and celebrate seniors.
On a personal level, I served my twice-widowed father as he transitioned from his home to independent living and then into hospice before he passed away. Plus, my dear mother-in-law is currently approaching late stage Alzheimer’s. So I have witnessed the faithfulness of God through every season of life from the shoes of a son and son-in-law, and not just as a minister.
In the Bible book of Isaiah, God gives this encouraging assurance in chapter 46 and verse 4: “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
God’s ultimate rescue is Heaven, which he has prepared for those who love him. Until then, he daily carries and sustains us and those we love as our years increase. The Lord is using CBV as a modern fulfillment of this ancient assurance. It is my hope that each resident and their family will continually experience the presence and promise of our dependable God.
