For more than three decades, Teresa Novak has been an integral part of the Central Baptist Village family. Her story is one of dedication, compassion, and an enduring commitment to serving the residents and staff at the senior living community she has come to call a second home.

Teresa’s journey at CBV began in August 1988, when she started as a Receptionist in Administration. Over the years, her roles evolved, but her steadfast love for the residents and dedication to their well-being remained constant.

“I worked for about 10 years as a Receptionist, then two years in medical records. After that, I worked in staffing for 19 years before returning to medical records in 2019, where I am now. I still help out in all departments wherever I’m needed,” Teresa says.

Teresa’s love for our Assisted Living and Memory Care community

Currently, Teresa serves as the Medical Records Administrative Assistant in the nursing department, a role she feels plays a vital part in ensuring the highest level of care for CBV’s residents.

“I make sure all their records are secure and updated,” she explains. “If a resident needs information or documentation, I ensure everything is in order. It’s about making sure they have what they need for their care, whether for the clinical teams, families, or other facilities. It’s a responsibility I take very seriously.”

Her contributions to the smooth operation of medical records may seem behind the scenes, but Teresa’s commitment to the residents goes far beyond paperwork. She interacts with them daily, cherishing those moments of connection.

“I love the residents. Whether in Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, Short-Term Rehab, or Assisted Living, their smiles can turn a tough day around. They bring joy to my life every single day,” she says.

How personal experience shapes Teresa’s passion

Teresa’s bond with the residents and her years of service have given her profound insight into the challenges and triumphs of senior living. Her personal experiences with family members in long-term care facilities have deepened her understanding.

“Having had two family members enter long-term care, I now truly understand the emotions residents and families go through during the transition. I’ve learned to offer support in ways I never could before,” Teresa explains.

Teresa’s relationship with CBV is professional, but she is also a devoted donor. Following a deeply personal loss, she found herself in a position to give back to the community that had supported her during one of the most difficult times of her life.

“When my husband passed away after years of illness, I wasn’t in a position to give during that time. But once I was able to, it felt so good to give back to the place that was there for me,” she says.

The profound impact of giving back

For Teresa, giving back isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about small, meaningful acts that bring joy to residents.

“Sometimes I think of things as simple as a resident’s favorite hand lotion or ice cream—little things that can put a smile on their face. That’s what matters to me,” she shares.

Her generosity extends to supporting CBV’s employee fund, recognizing the hard word of the staff who make the community feel like home for so many. When asked how she balances her role as a Medical Records Administrative Assistant with her philanthropy, Teresa humbly responds,

“It just flows. I come in, do the best I can, and hope that at the end of the day I’ve made a difference. CBV has been a part of my life for 36 years—it’s in my heart.”

An impermeable commitment to service

Teresa’s story is a testament to the power of community, compassion, and care. From her earliest days working at the front desk to her current role in medical records, her commitment to Central Baptist Village has never wavered. Her contributions—both professional and personal—have touched the lives of countless residents and colleagues.

“I remember driving by CBV when I was a little girl and telling my dad, ‘I want to live here one day,'” Teresa laughs. “Now, I’m part of this incredible place, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

With her caring spirit and heartfelt dedication, Teresa is not only a valued member of the CBV team but also an inspiration to all who know her. Her story embodies the essence of what makes Central Baptist Village a true home—a place where love, support, and community come together to enrich the lives of everyone who enters.
