What gets you going in the morning?
With these shorter days in the Chicago area, the alarm clock buzzes before the sun is up, and it can be hard to get the day started when it’s still dark. For me, all it takes is the thought of what I do every day and why I do it, and I’m on my way.
I’m Julie Stevens, director of sales and marketing for Central Baptist Village in Norridge, Illinois, northwest of Chicago. Incorporated in 1896, Central Baptist Village is a thriving community of older adults who know how to live. Older adults have been my inspiration for most of my career, and working with them and their families gets me energized each day — winter, spring, summer and fall.
As a former director of lifestyle enrichment, I’ve seen what can happen to older people who don’t have the day-to-day support they need to live as independently as they can. Too often they, and their families, end up focused on their frustrations — not on the possibilities.
I’ve also seen what happens when people move into a warm, wonderful senior living community like Central Baptist Village. With a little help and encouragement from our staff, our residents bloom. They make new friends. They rediscover their interests. Sometimes they even find new ones. Life takes on new meaning when it’s shared with others.
Everyone needs a reason to get up each day. I have more reasons than I can count — the older adults we serve at Central Baptist Village as well as those in our greater community outside Chicago and online, too.
I invite you to explore our new website and learn more about independent living, assisted living, Alzheimer’s and memory care, and skilled nursing. Be sure to contact us — you may be surprised by what you don’t know about senior living. You are why I’m here.
What inspires you each day?
